Four Day Workshop

No experience necessary..Beginners to Advanced.

Whether starting out or refreshing your skills

this course is exceptional for color identification,

pre-mixing paints, application and technique.

This is a Step by Step Instruction Course for all levels.

What you'll learn:

In this instructional step process we'll transfer an image onto a surface, establish an underpainting, premix colors then apply paint to a 11" x 14" canvas.

We'll review value contrast, color theory and how

to create an oil painting.

We will be working from a photo which will be supplied. Each course and subject slightly different, concentrating on the head & shoulders.

Time is limited, an excelled course.

Upon completion we encourage you to create your own

original portrait using the tools learned from this course.

4 Day Workshop / Fee: $250.-

This is a four day paint workshop.

We'll be painting in a relaxing environment with classical music, hot coffee, tea and snacks. Afternoon break, bring a lunch. Couch provided for resting. Easels on location.

NOTE: Just beginning? You can easily purchase a small oil painting kit of 6 to 12 colors and that will be just fine, along with a few brushes, oderless turpentine and smock.

Below is list of colors for artists who either have, or wish to continue portraiture. Easels supplied.



Titanium White

Cadmium Yellow light

Yellow Ochre

Cadmium Red Light

Alizarin Crimson

Terra Rosa ( or Venetian Red)

Raw Sienna

Burnt Sienna

Chrome Green

Viridian Green

Cobalt Blue.

just with Cobalt. 

In addition to paints, materials:

Palette knife for mixing.

Brushes: a small kit of long handled synthetic or bristle brushes.

*Brushes Filberts #2, 4, 6 / larger brush for bkg.

*Brushes- Round for details works.. small

Plastic surgical gloves if you wear them.

Palette: Grey Paper Palette ( or your glass palette)


Small Container or jar / for odorless thinner oil.

Odorless thinner (Turpenoid)

Oil media for mixing into colors. (Gamsol)

Rag or paper towels.

Handy wipes for cleaning.

Tin foil to preserve paint overnight. (Or sealed plastic container)

Transfer paper - Graphite.

Canvas or canvas board, 16" x 20".

Images of model will be supplied.
